A Reconciliation Reportedly Isn’t Out of The Question for Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson

It’s only been a week since Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson called off their engagement and split up (even though it feels like years have passed), but the two may not be done forever.

“It’s over for now but in a few days it wouldn’t be shocking to see them all over each other again,” a source told PEOPLE, adding that both Ariana and Pete are “very unpredictable.

As for right now, Ariana’s “staying strong and focusing on work,” the source said. Last Tuesday, she performed “The Wizard and I” during the taping of Wicked‘s 15th-anniversary special, set to air on NBC later this month.

Returning to the stage wasn’t particularly easy for Ariana, though. Before the performance, she wrote on Instagram, “Can’t believe I almost let my anxiety ruin this for me today!! Not today satan! Not tomorrow or the next day either not no more u can suck my big green d*ck. finna sing my heart out and be a big walking vessel of love bye.”

In addition to the breakup, Ariana’s also still dealing with the death of her ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, who died in September of a suspected overdose.

“Ariana’s been through a lot and emotionally things have been so up and down for her this year,” the source told PEOPLE, adding that the called-off engagement has “been really hard for both of them.”

But according to E! News, Ariana has a huge support system. “They want what’s best for her and to do what she feels is best for herself,” the source said.

As for Pete, he recently canceled a scheduled performance at Temple University citing “personal reasons.” He’s also taking time away from work before Saturday Night Live returns on November 3.

Hopefully the two end up doing what’s best for themselves, even if it means moving on.
