This is Real: Make Your Own Chipotle Guacamole

Ever have the urge to make guacamole but just can’t seem to find a recipe that will measure up to Chipotle’s? Well, if you’ve been in this situation, then you’re in luck because Chipotle has just released their guacamole recipe to the public, just in time for Cinco de Mayo!

The recipe itself is really pretty simple. There are no surprise ingredients. The recipe is as natural as Chipotle promises its recipes are.

So collegiettes, will you be trying out this recipe tonight at your Cinco de Mayo fiesta? It’s not too difficult and it could take those tortilla chips from drab to fab! Plus, you can save a ton of money by making your own guac instead of paying those extra couple of dollars for it every time (and yes, we know it’s extra). We even did the math: if you go to Chipotle twice a week (pretty typical of a college student), then you’d be saving $187.20 a year!

Enjoy this Cinco de Mayo, made sweeter (or more savory!) by the gift of homemade guacamole.

YOU’LL NEED:

2 ripe Hass avocados2 tsp lime juice2 tbsp cilantro (chopped)1/4 cup red onion (finely chopped)1/2 jalapeño, including seeds (finely chopped)1/4 tsp kosher salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Choose the right avocado. It should feel squishy yet firm (like the palm of your hand), and be a nice dark green color on the inside.2. Cut the avocado in half and the remove the pit (carefully!)3. Scoop the avocados and place in a medium bowl.4. Toss and coat with lime juice.5. Add the salt and using a fork or potato masher, mash until a smooth consistency is achieved.6. Fold in the remaining ingredients and mix well.7. Taste the guacamole (over and over!) and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Life is complete.
