If you haven’t started watching the third season of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, now would be the perfect time to start. On next Sunday’s episode there will be the dramatic meeting between Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga that we all have been waiting for. But apparently the drama couldn’t wait until next week, because news just came out that Teresa is being sued!
Not by her brother, in case you were wondering. Actually, for a bar fight that happened in February in the Dominican Republic. She is being accused of instigating a fight that led to a “savage beating” of a family who was at the same bar as the RHONJ crowd. What’s interesting though is the suit also accuses Bravo of egging on their behavior, saying they are “fostering hostility and violence in order to attract viewers.” Bravo has declined to comment.
Now on to the recap!
So who knew Melissa could sing? Well, apparently she can, and that’s how the episode began. There has already been more than a few housewives who have tried to start pop careers, so it will be interesting to see if Melissa’s career actually thrives, or dies promptly like those Thanksgiving turkeys.
In the next scene we see Albert playing golf while Caroline watches, looking fabulous in her skinny jeans and vest. Her empty nest syndrome has been a problem in the past, and now it’s in full force with Chris and Albie out of the house. Albert cracks jokes about how she needs grandchildren now to focus on, but it didn’t seem to lift her spirits.
Cut to the scene where Chris and Ashley walk into the kitchen looking a little guilty. It seems Chris is going to buy Ashley a new Jeep, much to Jacqueline’s amazement. Chris says it’s been decided, and Ashley mentions that she’s never been to rehab or anything, so she must be a good kid that deserves a brand new car. That’s exactly right, Ashley. Exactly right.

Now we’re at the Giudice household, where all the little girls are running around and jumping on Joe and Teresa’s bed. Teresa listens to a voicemail from her brother, where he says that he wants to come to Gia’s next gymnastic meet, which makes Teresa and Gia cry because they are both so happy. Fingers crossed for a brother sister reconciliation!
Kathy and her husband Rich had their kids Victoria and Joseph sign contracts declaring they will stay away from drugs and alcohol. Joseph admits later that when he’s a junior or senior in high school he will probably end up drinking, which does not please Kathy. You’ve got to admire the kid’s honesty.
Next we’re shopping with Melissa and her sisters, and Melissa talks about how she appreciates how her husband is supporting her music career. Apparently she has a 22-year-old songwriter named Antony who is going to help her, and she has a lot of faith in him. This should be interesting.
In the next scene we see Gia talking on the phone with her uncle Joe, which obviously makes her very happy because she’s grinning from ear to ear. Teresa has her put the phone on speaker and they chat a little, telling him the time of the competition and informing him that if he wants to talk more they can meet somewhere afterward. After they get done Teresa calls Jacqueline and tells her the good news, seeming happy but slightly apprehensive about the whole thing.
At the car dealership Ashley is getting her new car, while Jacqueline sits there quietly, not appreciating being left out of the loop of everything. She co-signs for everything, and ta-da!- Ashley has a brand new Jeep. You get the feeling Jacqueline is picking her battles with this one.
We find out in the next scene that Victoria (Kathy’s teenage daughter) had a tumor removed from her brain when she was ten years old. Victoria is planning an event of some sort to raise awareness, and asks her brother to help her recruit people. Adorable!

Here comes the big moment, we get to hear Melissa sing! Antony comes over to her house and while he plays the piano she sings a song he has just written. She seems nervous about some of the notes, but excited to be singing, and honestly, not that bad at it, either.
At Gia’s gymnastic meet she keeps looking into the crowd asking Teresa where her uncle Joe is. He’s late, apparently getting the times mixed up, and Joe and Melissa walk in after Gia has finished all of her events. The Giudice and Gorga children immediately start to play with each other upon their arrival, and unlike the adults, seem to be able to get along perfectly fine.
While everyone is leaving Joe tells Teresa about a restaurant where they can talk about everything, and she asks him to text her the address. We have a location people! But once Joe and Melissa get back home, Melissa starts crying about how Joe’s family hates her no matter how hard she tries to make them like her. Joe then decides that unless Teresa apologizes to Melissa, he can never forgive her.
