The Queen & Meghan Markle Will Have a Royal Sleepover During Their First Outing Together

Queen Elizabeth and the Duchess of Sussex, our beloved Meghan Markle, are heading out for their first royal outing together to unveil a new bridge in Widnes, Cheshire, open the Storyhouse Theatre and sit down for lunch at Chester’s Town Hall, Hello Giggles reports. But it looks like Markle will have a royal sleepover with the Queen during her first trip with the Queen on her own.

Queen Elizabeth will most likely be embarking on the royal family’s train together when the two depart on June 14 for Cheshire, which is approximately 165 miles northwest of London, PEOPLE reports.

According to PopSugar, this train is no ordinary commuter train; it includes entire bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a living room and a dining room.

The Queen has her own space that includes a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. The bathroom even has its own full-sized bathtub, and according to Royal Central, operators know to slow down the train’s speed at 7:30 am so the water doesn’t splash around while the Queen is taking her morning bath.

The train was designed in 1842 during Queen Victoria’s reign as a home away from home when the royal family was on official business, PEOPLE reports. Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall all have access to the nine-coach train.

Markle’s trip aboard the train is said to be a very big step, as most members of the royal family have never been invited to travel on the train with the Queen, including her grandsons and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, PopSugar reports.

“This is happening at triple speed,” Ingrid Seward, author of the royal biography My Husband & I, told PEOPLE. “[Markle] has jumped in straightaway.”

Robert Lacey, historical consultant for Netflix’s The Crown, says the outing is “a really positive sign of favor, encouragement and endorsement by the Queen.”
