Police Say Two Students Have Been Shot At A Middle School in Los Angeles

Two students are being treated for gunshot wounds after being shot by another student at a middle school in Los Angeles, Los Angeles School Police confirmed.

The shooter, a female student, opened fire in a classroom on Thursday morning on the campus of Salvador Castro Middle School, which is co-located with Belmont High School. Both schools were placed on lockdown, according to police. Officials transported the two wounded students to a local hospital and said the have brought the shooter into custody.

The Los Angeles Police Department tweeted that one victim, a 15-year-old boy, was shot in the head and remains in stable but critical condition. A 15-year-old girl was also shot in the wrist, and is in fair condition.

Los Angeles Police Lt. Chris Ramirez told CNN that officers found a confiscated a gun at the scene.
