Oops, She Did It Again! More Controversial Comments from Patti Stanger

Bravo TV and Patti Stanger have both apologized for any offense caused by the seriously controversial statements the reality star made on the Season 5 premiere of Watch What Happens Live! The founder and CEO of the prestigious Millionaire’s Club International Inc., frequently flaunts her brutally honest, no nonsense and no excuses attitude on her show, The Millionaire Matchmaker but many viewers felt that the stereotypical generalizations she made on gay and Jewish men went too far. On the Sunday night show, Stanger told host Andy Cohen that gay men are incapable of monogamy and that there is “no curbing the gay. I have tried to curb you people.” Andy was able to laugh off her initial comments but was left speechless when Stanger complimented a gay caller on the fact that he sounded straight. When Andy (who is gay as well as Jewish) said that he didn’t understand why being straight was a compliment, Stanger replied “Because he’s not queen-y.”

She continued to raise eyebrows by telling a viewer calling in for relationship advice that “Jewish men lie.” Andy Cohen kept the tone light, saying that he is “gay and down for the monogamy” but after Stanger’s comment on Jewish men, he fired back with “So I’m a non-monogamous liar.” After the episode, the internet flooded with outraged responses, included a Cancel Stanger hashtag on twitter. On Monday, a network spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that Patti’s comments “are not representative of the network’s beliefs and opinions” and apologized “for the offense it caused.” But do these apologies mean that Stanger has cleaned up her act? Not exactly. The New York Daily News has a clip of the matchmaker continuing to make offensive comments on tonight’s episode of The Joy Behar Show on CNN. In the clip, Stanger narrows the group of gay men being unable to commit to relationships to those living in Los Angeles, claiming that they “whip it out at eye lock.” Unlike Andy Cohen, Joy Behar called Stanger out on the sensitivity of the subject matter and advised her not to make such sweeping statements, saying “I think you went wrong when you make it sound as if all gays are like that. If you said all blacks, all Chinese, all women, anything, it would get you in trouble.”

Stanger however, would not be swayed and insisted that she has been a gay advocate from her earliest days. What do you think  collegiettes™? Were Stanger’s comments out of line or was she just keeping it real? Does her work to support the rights of gay men and women in the past outweigh these controversial comments?
