It appears that One Direction—or, at least, one of their members—is heading in a whole new direction – marriage!
According to E! News, 20-year-old (yes, 20!) Zayn Malik of One Direction finally announced that he became engaged on Sunday to his 20-year-old girlfriend Perrie Edwards, a member of the four-girl band, Little Mix. (How could you two have kept this news from us for so long?)
The two had dated briefly back in 2011, but didn’t become an official couple until April of 2012. However, the young pop power couple have decided that it might be a while before they officially say their ‘I do’s.’
As Perrie’s mom told Real Radio North East’s Gary & Lisa Show this morning, “They’ll wait ‘til 2014, 2015… One Direction are doing so much and Little Mix are the same. They’re out of the country most of the time doing their promotion for this, that and the other, so it’s just unbelievable. But I think they will eventually get together and set the date.”
Here’s hoping we score an invite to the wedding (especially if there’s going to be some live performances!)
