It’s no secret that President Donald Trump dislikes Rosie O’Donnell. During a 2006 Entertainment Tonight interview, Trump stated, “Rosie O’Donnell is disgusting—both inside and out. If you take a look at her, she’s a slob. How does she even get on television? If I were running The View, I’d fire Rosie. I’d look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers and say, ‘Rosie, you’re fired.’ We’re all a little chubby but Rosie’s just worse than most of us. But it’s not the chubbiness — Rosie is a very unattractive person, both inside and out.” Yeah. When Trump says “nobody has more respect for women” than he does, remember that quote.
According to a timeline created by CNN, Trump has been publicly attacking O’Donnell for over a decade. He’s called her “my nice fat little Rosie,” “a total trainwreck” and “a true loser.” She’s hit back as well, calling Trump “a snake-oil salesman” and an “ass,” but she’s never commented on his appearance. What better next step in this long-running feud than for O’Donnell to play Trump’s controversial chief strategist, Steve Bannon, on Saturday Night Live? After all, we all know Trump is frequently wounded by the show, and reportedly was upset when a woman portrayed his press secretary, Sean Spicer.
From the beginning of the election cycle, Saturday Night Live executed skits that portrayed Trump as an unfit and unqualified presidential nominee. With his recent win, SNL has been portraying many of Trump’s cabinet members as equally unqualified. Kate McKinnon retired her Hillary Clinton wig to take on Kellyanne Conway and Betsy DeVos. And of course, Melissa McCarthy made a guest appearance as Sean Spicer. While it’s uncertain if O’Donnell’s new Twitter avatar is a masterclass in trolling Steve Bannon or a preview for this weekend’s SNL, O’Donnell did confirm she’s willing to take on the role.

In the meantime, all we can do is sit and wait. But if O’Donnell does play Bannon on Saturday, I think we can all expect to hear from President Trump on Twitter.
