Olivia Rodrigo Fans Correctly Predicted Her Next Single Drop

Get ready, besties — we are officially having another Olivia Rodrigo summer. It’s been two years since Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour, was released to critical acclaim and appreciation for its relatable lyrics targeted towards Gen Z. If you’ve scrolled on TikTok throughout the past year, you’ve probably seen videos from the Sour Tour, Rodrigo’s unreleased music, or even speculation on when new music could be coming out. As we get closer to the end of the month, fans’ sleuthing skills turned out to correctly predict that new Olivia Rodrigo music is on the way.

New music coming out in 2023 has been teased by Rodrigo multiple times throughout the past few months. In early December 2022, Rodrigo hinted at her excitement for new music in her year-end Spotify Wrapped message. Exclusively for fans, Rodrigo said that she was “so excited for next year and all of the new things and new music that 2023 will bring,” leaving fans speculating on what this new era could be.

Olivia Rodrigo fans started noticing clues of a June 30 drop.

On May 27, Rodrigo posted a selfie on her Instagram account with no caption. Fans immediately began to dissect the photo, and realized that there was an easter egg hidden in the photo. In the background, the Sour calendar is on the month of June, with a bedazzled heart exactly on June 30.

Of course, this could be seen as a coincidence, but a few days later, the official Olivia Rodrigo email sent its recipients a countdown that ends on June 30.

Rodrigo’s Driver’s License canvas on Spotify has also changed as well, making the new expiration date on the license June 30. Needless to say, fans were left screaming.

What did the Sour Hotline confirm about Rodrigo’s new music?

During the early days of the Sour era, Rodrigo created a Sour Hotline that premiered during her Saturday Night Live performance. The hotline was originally used to tease one of the songs off of Sour, “enough for you,” and had been inactive in 2022. But on June 7, fans who called the Sour Hotline were greeted with a new message.

When fans now call +1 (323) 622-7687, a message of Rodrigo speaking is heard. In the message, Rodrigo says that you’ve reached her and that she “sucks at voicemails, but leave me a text and I’ll get back to you by June 30,” confirming that something big is definitely coming at the end of this month.

Rodrigo confirmed fans’ suspicions with the announcement of “Vampire.”

And it looks like their theories were right: On June 13, Rodrigo posted to Instagram to announce her new single “Vampire,” which drops on — you guessed it — June 30. She hasn’t confirmed yet if the single is a pre-release track from a new album or a one-off for now, but either way, I’ll be streaming it.

We are all going to be watching on June 30 for whatever Rodrigo has to say in her next era.
