Things just got personal between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj. On Jan. 26, Megan dropped her single “Hiss” which is rumored to include a diss against Nicki Minaj and her husband. And if you thought these two icons were totally cool with each other, and are confused by the rumored feud, you’re not alone. Do Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj actually have beef? Turns out, this tea has been brewing for a minute.

In “Hiss,” Megan included a lyric that many fans feel is pointed toward Nicki’s husband’s status as a convicted sex offender. The line “These h*es don’t be mad at Megan, these h*es mad at Megan’s Law/ I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start” is a direct reference to the U.S. federal law which requires law enforcement authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders. Seeing as Nicki’s husband, Kenneth Penny, as well as her brother, Jelani Maraj, are both convicted sex offenders, it’s not a stretch to suggest that the line was a diss.

But, where did this beef between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj come from? Don’t worry, if you feel out of the loop, I’ll fill you in. I went through the internet history archives to find the truth about Megan The Stallion and Nicki Minaj’s beef. Here’s the deep dive, bestie.

The Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Nicki Minaj multiverse is rooted in drama.

In 2019, the two collaborated on the viral song, “Hot Girl Summer” which, basically, broke the entire internet. However, despite the smashing success of the song, things seemed to turn sour in 2020 when Megan began collaborating with Nicki’s longtime enemy, Cardi B.

Now, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B go way back. Despite the two artists collaborating on the 2018 Migos song “Motorsport,” Cardi and Nicki got into a physical altercation at the 2018 Harper’s Bazaar party during New York Fashion Week. Since then, both Cardi and Nicki have exchanged disses in their music and have yet to make any sort of amends publicly.

Given Megan’s close relationship with Cardi, it’s possible that she and Minaj no longer get along.

Then, Nicki Minaj spilled some tea that was rumored to be about Megan Thee Stallion.

While Nicki and Megan have never gotten into a fight publicly (well, until now), Nicki shared a story on a September 2022 episode of the Queens Radio show on AMP that fans believed was about Megan. In the episode, Nicki tells a story about an unnamed female rapper who attempted to pressure her to consume alcohol, despite the fact that Nicki was pregnant at the time. The rapper also alleged that the unnamed party suggested she get an abortion so that she could truly enjoy herself.

Shortly after the episode was released, fans began speculating that the unnamed rapper was Megan Thee Stallion. In response, Megan hopped onto X/Twitter to set the record straight and deny the rumors.

Nicki never came forward to address the rumors, so we can chalk this one up to a whole bunch of speculation.

Nicki Minaj responded to Megan The Stallion’s diss on “HIss.”

If you’re a Nicki fan (“Pull up in the Shri Lanka, what!?“), then you’d know that the artist doesn’t back down easily. Shortly after “Hiss” was released, Nicki took to Instagram Live to share a snippet of her new song, which appears to include a diss against Megan. Minaj took to Instagram Live shortly after “Hiss” was released to preview a song of her own. Minaj rapped, “Bad b*tch she like six foot, I call her Big Foot/ The b*tch fell off, I said get up on your good foot,” which is an obvious nod to the July 2020 shooting by Tory Lanez that left Megan’s foot wounded. Yikes.

Granted that neither of the artists has commented directly on the beef, we’ll just have to see if things get more intense when Nicki drops her next song.
