These Celebrity Kids Are The Next Generation Of “It-Girls”

Ever heard the term “it-girl?” If you haven’t (or even if you have), think of the one and only Serena van der Woodsen from the legendary TV series Gossip Girl (this take may cause some debate as the Blair Waldorf hive is ferocious, but regardless). Serena is always in the spotlight and enjoys it, even if she sometimes pretends not to. Not to mention, her style is effortless, flawless, and consistently trendy. In short: what we love the most about an “It girl” is her ability to be mysterious but always keep us fed with looks and style inspiration.

The it-girl lifestyle requires a desire to be in the limelight, and you must have thick skin and the capacity to be perceived and watched. Some people can handle it, while others cannot. However, with so many “it-families” raising pop culture legends, the it-girl gene might run in the family.

The Kardashian and Jenners of the millennial generation are slowly on their way out, and it seems their little ones are definitely in training to take the throne. This leads us to wonder, who will lead the charge for the next generation of pop-culture-savvy and fashionable young women?

Styled with perfection and raised in the spotlight, here are some celebrity kids who are already on their way to achieving icon status.

Chicago West

Born to two iconic parents—Kim K and Kanye West—it’s no wonder the third Kardashian-West child is an icon in the making. From her adorable street style looks and perfectly styled hair, Chicago seems well on her way to being a fashionista—much like her big sister, North. Already appearing on the Instagram stories and feed of her mother Kim Kardashian, Chicago might just become a style icon for the next generation.

blue Ivy carter

A living legacy, Blue Ivy, daughter of superstar parents Beyoncé Knowles and Jay Z (Beyoncé and Jay Z!), has all the makings of an it-girl without question—and she’s got the awards to prove it. Blue Ivy not only won her first Grammy in 2021 for her work in the music video for “BROWN SKIN GIRL,” but she has also won BET and NAACP Image awards, along with narrating the audiobook Hair Love by Mathew Cherry. Similarly to her parents, being iconic comes naturally—no matter what the project is.

PENELOPE DISICK

Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian’s second child has already made her mark with Gen Z after going viral a few times with her adorable and hilarious TikTok presence. Not to mention, Penelope’s fun and fiery red hair marked her as a recognizable and unique force when it comes to children’s fashion. Always sure to include her mom, dad, and other famous family members in her TikToks— Penelope already knows the power of her influence.

north west

We can all probably agree North West was born to be a fashion girl. Already rocking designer before she could talk, North West continues to undeniably kill the fashion game in both casual settings, and sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week. As much as we can tell, Ms. North loves to dress up and play in clothes like her superstar dad, Kanye West—but also shares his disdain for paparazzi (remember the “stop” sign she flashed to photographers?). With her fantastic taste in fashion at an early age and her powerful attitude, North West is shaping up to be a game changer when it comes to influence. And we love it.

Although these celebrity kids are already in the spotlight, it’s important that we continue to treat them exactly as who they are: children. And while we can admire their fashion sense, blooming creativity, and involvement in projects, these celebrity kids deserve a childhood, just like anyone else. Even if they dress better than I ever will.

From the looks of it, these fashion prodigies will give us it-girl inspo for many years to come. However, let’s also remember that it-girl inspiration can also come from anyone and anywhere—regardless of their family. Never count anyone out!
