AOC's Face & Nancy Pelosi's Clap Were The Meme Winners Of The State Of The Union

On Tuesday night, Donald Trump delivered the State of the Union address, which saw him speak on issues such as immigration and abortion. But it was Nancy Pelosi, the House speaker and California Democrat, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, who ended up stealing the show.

During President Trump’s address, Pelosi stood and clapped at the president with a grin that birthed a viral moment.

This all began when Trump said: “But we must reject the politics of revenge, resistance and retribution—and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise and the common good.” Pelosi paused from flipping through a stack of papers to join the crowd in standing and applauding the president, but she did so in the most savage way. One Twitter user described it as a “hell no look,” and The Washington Post called it out as an example of “exquisite shade.”

It was a moment that Twitter users could not let us forget, and so, the memes and photoshopped images of Pelosi emerged.

The other iconic moment of the night belonged to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, who remained seated while other Democrats stood and clapped for the president. Her reaction to Trump’s speech was priceless, and people on Twitter were obsessed with it.

Female lawmakers wore white on Tuesday night to show their “solidarity with women,” as a nod to the “suffragette movement of the early 20th century,” The Hill reports. Ocasio-Cortez stood out with her red lipstick, stylish cape, and “IDGAF” and unamused stare.

If you thought only Ocasio-Cortez was disappointed, just take a look at the sea of women judging the president's speech. It definitely captured the mood of the night.
