Grab some popcorn and gather your friends, because the 2026 release of Obsession is taking over. And if the virality of the film inspired you to give it a watch, and you loved it, then you’re probably on the hunt for more movies like Obsession. And honestly? I can’t blame you!
ICYMI, Obsession follows a hopeless romantic Baron “Bear”(Michael Johnston), who wants to win the heart of his longtime friend and crush, Niki (Inde Navarrette). After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow,” he finds himself getting exactly what he asked for, but Bear soon realizes that it is not all what it turned out to be — and that some desires come at a dark price.
This horror-thriller has been flooding everyone’s FYPs for weeks due to the original storyline, but also because it’s an indie film that cost less than $1 million to make. It’s been so successful that it’s even grossed over $23 million in US theaters, making it an instant classic and indie darling.
As we’re still reeling from the intense and high-stakes vibe of Obsession, I’ve gone on a quest to find more movies that mirror that haunting energy. The best thrillers aren’t just about jump scares — they’re about that gut feeling that something’s terribly wrong, even if you can’t look away. They keep you on the edge, wondering what will happen next.
So, with the social media craze in mind, I’ve found five films for you to watch if you were a fan of Obsession. These movies amplify themes of autonomy and, well, obsession — and are perfect additions to your must-watch list.
- Companion (2025)Â
-
Companion follows Iris (Sophie Thatcher), a sweet and devoted partner, who goes away on a trip with her significant other, Josh (Jack Quaid), and their friends. But things spiral into chaos when Iris discovers she is actually a perfect, programmed companion robot. And once her program is tampered with, all bets are off when she decides to strike back and take back her free will.
It may not sound as much of a thriller, but it does explore the theme of our collective fear of artificial intelligence arising, and what we fought in the sense of a word, the “perfect” partner.
- The Stepford Wives (2004)
-
This 2004 dark comedy is a remake of the 1975 classic The Stepford Wives. Joanna Eberhart (Nicole Kidman), a wealthy Manhattan TV executive, relocates with her family to the idealized suburb of Stepford. While her significant other quickly embraces their new community, Joanna has a difficult time adjusting to the polished scenery of Stepford and the “perfect” wives. As she unravels the town secrets, it becomes a chilling reflection on conformity and power dynamics, echoing Obsession‘s themes of control and submission.
- Talk To Me (2023)
-
Talk To Me follows a group of friends who uncover how to summon spirits using a preserved hand, zipping them into a dangerous supernatural game. But when one of them takes it too far, terrifying forces are unleashed. This horror recipe is reminiscent of Ouija boards but with a scarier twist – summoning spirits with a mummified hand that might possess you. If supernatural obsession fascinates you, this film is a must-watch. It captures the chaos of group-tramma and daring party tricks that go wrong.
- Don’t Worry Darling (2022
-
Similar to The Stepford Wives, Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller set in a flawless 1950s experimental community called Victory. However, things start to unravel once Alice (Florence Pugh) begins noticing frightening cracks in her impractical lifestyle, leading her to slowly to dig through the sinister secrets of the community. Oh, and Harry Styles is in it, too.
- It Follows (2015)
-
It Follows is a highly praised American psychological horror film about a teenager, Jay (Malia Monroe), who sleeps with her partner, Hugh (Jake Weary), for the first time. Afterwards, though, she painfully learns that she is the latest recipient of a devastating curse that is passed from victim to victim via sex.Â
The supernatural shapeshifter is only visible to the cursed person, while her friends at first do not believe her paranoid stories until they too begin to see the creature. Now they must escape the mythological entity before it catches them and kills them. The only way to escape this nightmare is for the victim to pass the curse on to someone else through intercourse.
All the supernatural feelings in one package of being chased, hunted, shape-shifting, and the chain of reaction.
