The Morning Scroll: The Queen Invites Trump To The UK Again & Vanessa Hudgens Gushes About Her Past Relationship With Zac Efron

Morning! While you were sleeping (or staying up to binge-watch Friends for the tenth time) (or pulling an all-nighter in the library), a few things went down that you’ll probably want to know about. So grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and get scrolling.

What In The World

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation for a formal state visit with Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Theresa May.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the president and first lady Melania Trump had agreed to visit the country between June 3-5. According to The New York Times, this trip is combined with the couple’s visit to France, where they will commemorate the D-Day invasion with French President Emmanuel Macron.

The White House also released a statement, saying that the visit would help “reaffirm the steadfast and special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom, per Politico. May also said the meeting was an “opportunity to strengthen our already close relationship in areas such as trade, investment, security and defense, and to discuss how we can build on these ties in the years ahead,” according to The New York Times.

The president made his first visit to the UK in June of 2018, but it wasn’t an official state visit. The most memorable moments of that visit were how Trump completely ignored the rules and etiquettes of meeting The Queen. Such as his faux pas of making The Queen wait for over 15 minutes and walking ahead of her.

Hopefully, he has learned from his past and doesn’t make those mistakes again.

Rumor Has It

On Monday, Hudgens reflected on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, where she opened up about her former relationship with Zac Efron.

The High School Musical costars dated for about four years, and they were an iconic couple of our generation. Literally, think Brad and Angelia or JLO and Arod vibes.

“It started off really organically,” she said. “I could not have been more grateful to have that relationship at the time.”

The actress said that the relationship was important at the time because of how popular High School Musical became.

“It was this massive phenomenon and [all] eyes were on me,” Hudgens explained. “And it’s just a really weird foreign thing to go through, and by being in a relationship, it kind of kept me stabilized and grounded, and I had someone to lean on who was going through it as well.”

Of course, like all relationships, it had its problems.

“I remember one time we did have a fight, and it was while we were at rehearsals, and I remember [HSM director] Kenny Ortega coming around the corner with the most concerned look on his face like, ‘Oh no, is our movie going to fall apart right now?” Hudgens said. “I pride myself on being a professional, so I was like, that aside, we are going to move forward and do what we need to do…and we sorted it all out. I think because I was so young, I think that relationship stabilized me.”

Since their 2010 breakup, Hudgens and Efron have moved on. Hudgens has been dating Austin Butler for over seven years. According to Refinery29, Efron was rumored to be dating Olympic swimmer Sarah Bro in March.
