Rumor Has It
Guess what, It fans….Pennywise and the Losers’ Club are coming back to Derry! The highly anticipated It: Chapter 2 trailer has finally dropped, and it looks incredibly terrifying.
The trailer picks up 27 years after the Losers’ Club defeated the demonic force. An adult Beverly Marsh (portrayed by Jessica Chastain) returns to her childhood home in search of her father but discovers that an elderly woman now resides there. She invites Beverly inside for tea and cookies, but like most horror movies, the elderly woman isn’t what she seems to be.
“You know what they say about Derry. No one who dies here ever really dies,” the elderly woman says. “But tell me, how is it being back in Derry?”
Beverly uneasily replies, “It’s good…strange.”
While in the kitchen grabbing cookies, the elderly woman tells Beverly about her fathers time in the circus. Beverly looks at the photos in the apartment, and she realizes that the woman’s father looks a lot like Pennywise (portrayed by Bill Skarsgard). The woman suddenly transforms into Pennywise and attacks Beverly.
The trailer also features other members of the club as adults including Bill Denbrough (James McAvoy), Richie Tozier (Bill Hader), Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa), Ben Hanscom (Jay Ryan), Stan Uris (Andy Bean), and Eddie Kaspbrak (James Ransone). It shows all of them in the sewer to end the threat once and for all. Of course, the trailer also shows the creepy AF clown floating in the air with a ton of red balloons.

Then This Happened
Anna “Delvey” Sorokin, the 28-year-old who scammed her way into New York City’s social scene by posing as a German heiress, was sentenced to at least four years and up to 12 years in prison on Thursday.
According to The New York Post, Sorokin was found guilty of four counts of theft of services, three counts of grand larceny, and one count of attempted grand larceny. She’s accused of scamming multiple businesses and friends out of $275,00 in New York. During that time, The Daily Beast reported, she stayed in luxury hotels, went on extravagant vacations, and ate at high-end restaurants.
In reality, The New York Times reported Sorokin is the daughter of a former truck driver from Russia. Her family migrated from Germany to the United States in 2014, and after their arrival, she claimed to be a wealthy socialite. According to The Times, she alleged to certain people that her father was a diplomat and an oil tycoon. Over 10 months in 2016, she scammed high-profile friends and multiple financial institutions out of over $200,000 in cash and services. This includes a luxury vacation to Morocco and a round trip charter flight to the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting in Omaha, NE, The Daily Beast reported. She also reportedly applied for a $22 million loan to create a private arts club.

According to Sorokin’s indictment in 2017, she falsified bank records and her identity. “This defendant’s alleged criminal conduct spans from check fraud to six-figure stolen loans,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. said in the indictment. In December, Sorokin was offered a plea deal that would have released her from prison in 2019, but she declined it. The case went to trial.
Sorokin’s case attracted national media attention. Her case has been described in great detail by Vanity Fair and New York Magazine. A book by one of Sorokin’s friends who was scammed is reportedly in the works. And Bloomburg reported that Shonda Rhimes is also producing a Netflix project based on the high profile case.

The judge ordered for Sorokin to pay back almost $199,00 in restitution and a fine of $24,000 in fines. She also received an indeterminate sentence, meaning she could receive parole after four months in prison, Business Insider reported. Sorokin also could serve a maximum sentence of 12 years. After she’s released, Sorokin will be deported.
