After partially reshooting All the Money in the World, a film directed by Ridley Scott (due to the numerous sexual misconduct allegations placed against Kevin Spacey, the original star of the film), it has been revealed that Michelle Williams was paid less than $1,000 for her work on the reshoot.
According to USA Today, Mark Wahlberg, however, was paid a whopping $1.5 million in comparison.
Williams earning less than one percent than her male co-star is shocking, given previous affirmations from the director himself that the cast who were filming the reshoot “did it for nothing.”
After original agreements were made, Wahlberg’s agency reportedly renegotiated a significantly larger fee.
Williams was quoted about the reshoot decision stating, “I said I’d be wherever they needed me, whenever they needed me. And they could have my salary; they could have my holiday, whatever they wanted.”
Many people on Twitter, many of which are notable celebrities, have slammed this recent news, including Jessica Chastain, Judd Apatow and Amber Tamblyn.

After the news went viral and the general outcry against this pay gap has strengthened, many are calling for big changes to be made when a talented actress made so little in comparison to her male counterpart.
This incredibly unfair wage difference is appalling, and Williams deserves the same amount of recognition and pay as Wahlberg.
