Although Iām loving this relationship and rooting for it to last, Markleās ex-husband Trevor Engelson mightĀ think differently. Cosmopolitan reports that Engelson, a film producer, is currently working on a Fox sitcom about the leadās ex-wife marrying a British prince. Talk about shade.
The official announcement of the comedy emphasizes that the show is fictional, so the idea isnāt totally based on Markle and Engelsonās actual relationship. āDivorce is hard,ā the showās pitch reads. āSharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British royal family when your wife marries a prince, in the unforgiving spotlight of Londonās tabloid media, is next level.ā
Markle and Engelson, who divorced in 2013 after less than two years of marriage, have no kids together, proving that the majority of the show will be fictional material. The idea allegedly came from a conversation between Engelson and a fellow producer about what could’veĀ happened if the coupleĀ did have children.
As long as these guys aren’t trying to deny theirĀ source of inspiration, this show could be pretty interesting, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it caught the attention of some lawyers before hitting the air.Ā
