I always know it’s the holidays the instant I hear Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” blaring over the radio. And you Beliebers out there are getting a nice early holiday treat since the chart-topping diva has teamed up with teen sensation Justin Bieber to record an all-new version just in time for your holiday shopping this year.
But the new music video isn’t exactly spreading holiday cheer.
While most of the video comes off as an innocent holiday duet, it’s come under attack by some who say
the flirty interaction between the 17-year-old teen and 41-year-old diva is a little too much. The four-minute video, which looks a lot like Macy’s on Black Friday (minus the trampling or pepper spraying), features Mariah showing off her post-baby body in a too-sexy Santa-inspired mini dress, while Justin and his friends load their shopping carts with Nintendo3DS consoles. The video wraps up with Justin and Mariah handing out gifts to the crowd in the store, cozying up in the red sleigh with a cute dog.

Personally, I don’t think the age difference makes a difference, the two singers aren’t really flirty in a way that makes me uncomfortable (it’s acting, remember), and this music video is comfortably predictable if not cheesy, as far as holiday music videos go. Beliebers might even say this duo remake revamps Mariah’s song. Still, I don’t think her song needs revamping. That’s why we hear it on radios and speakerphones everywhere the day after Thanksgiving – it’s a classic. Thanks, but no thanks, Justin Bieber… I think I’ll keep the original. But what do you think, collegiettes™? Check out the video above. You can catch the track from Justin’s Christmas album Under the Mistletoe.
