College parties and raves nationwide are about to get much drearier because everyone’s favorite uncle-nephew duo has stopped shuffling. (So much for shuffling every day…)
“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years,” said Redfoo, 37, uncle of his partner, Sky Blu, in a phone interview with The Huffington Post. “We’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that instead of, like, forcing it all the time.”
Redfoo and Sky Blu will be taking this time apart as a musical act to pursue their personal interests. While Sky Blu’s future is uncertain, Redfoo has spoken publicly about his plans that range from sports to music to apparel.
September sightings of Redfoo included the electropop artist cheering on Victoria Azarenka at the U.S. Open and performing on a few dates on the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions with the gold medal-winning Fierce Five. His hand in sports has not stopped as a fan and musical act. He recently began coaching Ayaka Okuno, a junior player, on the tennis courts in Las Vegas, reported The Huffington Post.
In addition to coaching, Redfoo is in the process of planning his own line of tennis attire and will be sponsoring the United States Tennis Association’s Party Rock Open in Las Vegas.
His involvement in the sports world also reaches football after the Krafts, the owners of the New England Patriots, approached Redfoo about writing a song for the team this season. This means that he has not left the recording studio, despite all of his new projects. Just because he’s in the studio does not mean he will be reuniting with his nephew professionally any time soon, but fans can sleep in peace knowing that any music Redfoo creates “is always going to be LMFAO-ish.”
“I think that we just naturally started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family,” said Redfoo of the separation. “He’ll always be my nephew, I’ll always be his uncle.”
