Lili Reinhart Says a Fake Uber Driver Tried to Get Her Into His Car, Reminds Fans to ‘Make Smart Decisions Out There’

Lili Reinhart had a scary close call encounter over the weekend with a rideshare imposter, and now she is warning fans to “trust your gut” and “make smart decisions out there.”

The Riverdale actress took to Twitter on Sunday, June 2 to recount the unsettling experience.

“PSA: I was just ushered to a car by someone posing to be an airport cab/Uber driver,” Reinhart wrote about the scary experience.

She thought the man was her driver, so she walked towards his car with him but soon realized he wasn’t who he claimed to be. Luckily, the 22-year-old actress noticed that the vehicle didn’t have one of those Uber or Lyft stickers, so she refused to get in the car, Us Weekly reports.

“I got to his car and there were absolutely no signs that he was a professional service driver. So I did NOT get into the car. Please pay attention and make smart decisions out there,” the actress added.

“Seriously… please be careful out there,” she wrote in a subsequent tweet. “You don’t have to be nice or worry about being rude. Trust your gut. It could save you.”

Sadly, this isn’t the first instance where someone tried to impersonate a rideshare driver. According to Cosmopolitan, a Seattle woman was sexually assaulted by a man pretending to be an Uber driver in April, and that same month, a woman in South Carolina was found dead after she got into a vehicle that she thought was her Uber ride.

This is obviously extremely terrifying, so it’s always important to check the license plate number on the car and make sure the name and photo match the driver of the car. And, most importantly, as Lili said, trust your gut.
