L’Oreal’s Women of Worth: Nominate Someone Today!

There are a lot of amazing women around who are genuinely excited about helping their communities through volunteer work, often with little to no outside recognition for their totally selfless actions. L’Oreal Paris has decided to give a little bit back to these unsung heroines with the annual Women of Worth.

Women of Worth come from all social and cultural backgrounds, all age groups, and all parts of the country, but they all care about making a change in whatever area they’re passionate about. Past winners have done everything from starting dance teams for students with disabilities, to providing inner city kids with after-school mentoring and activities, to donating furniture to people rebuilding their homes, and so much more! Check out the Women of Worth website for more info on their amazing past honorees.

L’Oreal awards 10 Women of Worth honorees each year with a $10,000 donation to the charitable organization of her choice, plus an all-expenses paid trip to the fabulous Women of Worth awards gala in NYC! And, in true American Idol fashion, one of these 10 winners will be selected via a public online poll as the National Honoree and recipient of an additional $25,000 donation to her cause.

But, being a Woman of Worth doesn’t just mean one night of recognition. All the former winners have created a powerful community working on a national scale to promote their passion for their own personal causes as well as volunteerism, in general. They travel across the country attending national conferences on volunteerism, spreading the word through social media, and participating in photo shoots, vignette/commercial shoots and promotional videos.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, great timing! For the rest of this week, Women of Worth is still accepting nominations for the 2013 awards. You can enter online or by mail. You can nominate yourself; you know you’re doing something great, so why not spread the word? Nominees will be judged based on the impact of their actions, how well their activities satisfy a genuine community need or concern, the innovative quality of their actions, and, of course, personal passion for the cause.

Being a volunteer doesn’t mean you can’t accept a little recognition. Plus, with that kind of prize money, this award could make a huge difference for a lot of other people, too! So, if you or someone you know sounds like a Woman of Worth, make sure to fill out a nomination form by the final deadline on June 14th!
