Jonah Hauer-King’s Relationship Status, For Curious Prince Eric Stans

It’s been four years since it was announced that The Little Mermaid would become a live-action film. Now, the film comes out on May 26, and the wait is finally over. With the release of the film comes Hollywood’s new heartthrob, Jonah Hauer-King, who plays Prince Eric (if you had a crush on the cartoon as a child, you’ll most likely have a crush on his live-action portrayal).

Alongside him in the film, there’s Halle Bailey in the titular role of Ariel, Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Awkafina as the voice as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy as Ursula.

With Hauer-King’s new popularity from the role, it’s no surprise that people are interested in learning all that they can about him— including his relationship status. Here’s what we know about Hauer-King’s dating history.

At 27 years old, Hauer-King is much more vocal about his career and his acting credits than he is about his personal life. Prior to this role, he appeared in the films The Last Photograph, Postcards from London, Old Boys, Ashes in the Snow, A Dog’s Way Home, The Song of Names, and This is the Night, as well as the TV shows World on Fire and The Flatshare. According to Popsugar, who has been keeping an eye on his relationship status, Hauer-King’s relationship history and current status are both unknown, and may stay that way.

In the past, it was rumored that Hauer-King was romantically linked to Stranger Things actress Maya Hawke after they worked together on BBC’s 2017 adaptation of Little Women. Her Campus reached out to Hauer-King’s team for comment but didn’t hear back.

Recently, Hauer-King has been rumored to be dating co-star, Halle Bailey, after Pop Tingz tweeted that Bailey and her boyfriend, DDG, were rumored to have broken up. (For what it’s worth, neither Bailey nor DDG have confirmed a breakup, and Bailey said as recently as May 23 that she wants to keep her personal life out of the spotlight.)

Inside the Magic did an article discussing all of the fan theories that Bailey and Hauer-King’s romance on screen transpired into a real-life romance, but there’s been no confirmation from either of the stars or any sources close to them, so take that with a major grain of salt — I think we can chalk this up to pure speculation. Her Campus reached out to both Hauer-King and Bailey’s teams for comment but didn’t hear back by the time of publication.

Just like the mystery of Ariel’s identity to Eric when she first rescues him, it seems like we’re left in the dark about Hauer-King’s relationship status. What I can say, though, is that if he’s not dating anyone, there’ll be plenty of people wanting to court him — and if he is dating someone, they’re extremely lucky.
