We were all surprised when Gigi Hadid started dating Zayn Malik, but no one was more surprised than Hadid’s ex, Joe Jonas. The couple had only been dating for five months before they broke up and within weeks, she had moved on to Malik. Jonas was understandably upset, deleting pictures he had with Hadid from his social media accounts, but he remained tight-lipped about the whole ordeal. Now, in an interview with the Daily Mirror, the DNCE frontman is speaking out about what went wrong.
While Jonas doesn’t directly call out his ex, his statement confirms what we were all thinking. “I think it’s interesting that she moved on so quickly,” Jonas said. “I mean, it was definitely very quick.”
After news broke that Hadid left Jonas for Malik, fans began making comparisons between the two former boy band members. But Jonas isn’t very fond of the comparison. “It’s comical that I’m compared to him. That dude and I have been compared for years, I think it’s just funny.” He’s not a very big fan of Malik to begin with. “To be honest I haven’t really listened to his music, but he can sing well.”
Jonas makes it clear that he’s not concerned with his previous relationship, or any relationship for that matter. “I’m just focused on the band now and what I’m doing with the music.”
