Jennifer Lopez and beau Alex Rodriguez announced their engagement during their beach vacation Saturday with matching Instagram posts. In the photo, the former New York Yankees legend is holding the singer’s left hand, which was sporting a massive diamond ring on the ring finger.
Lopez shared the photo, captioning it with a row of heart emojis, and Rodriguez wrote, “She said yes.”
J.Lo’s new jewelry is reportedly worth about seven figures. Jewelry and style expert Lauren McCawley told E! News that the “emerald cut stunner is what engagement ring dreams are made of. An approximate 15-carat diamond sparkles in a platinum solitaire setting and could easily retail for $1 Million.”
According to The Huffington Post, the power couple was on a tropical beach vacation when Rodriguez popped the question, with the couple posting photos of them lounging on the beach and snuggling up on a boat.
One day before the engagement news, Rodriguez posted an Instagram Story with a quote about soulmates, E! News reports.
“A soulmate isn’t someone who completes you,” his post read. “No, a soulmate is someone who inspires you to complete yourself. A soulmate is someone who loves you with so much conviction, and so much heart, that it is nearly impossible to doubt just how capable you are of becoming exactly who you have always wanted to be.”
The couple made their relationship public in early 2017, and have been inseparable ever since.
In a cover story with Vanity Fair back in 2017, Rodriguez called the couple “twins.”
“We are very much twins,” he said. “We’re both Leos; we’re both from New York; we’re both Latino and about 20 other things.”
“I understand him in a way that I don’t think anyone else could, and he understands me in a way that no one else could ever,” she said of the couple’s deep connection.
Lopez and Rodriguez each have two children from their prior relationships, but their families seem to be blending together just fine.
But wedding planning is one more item for the busy couple to add on to their schedules. According to ABC News, Lopez announced a new concert tour in February and is set to star in and executive-produce a new film on HBO. Meanwhile, Rodriguez serves as a sports broadcaster on ESPN and Fox.
