Jelly beans and chocolate eggs

Hey collegiettes™!

Happy Easter! No matter what your religious beliefs are about today, I think it is pretty impossible not to enjoy a day filled with family, beautiful spring weather, great food and chocolate. At least those are the things that have filled me day. I will also shamelessly admit that second to family time, the chocolate is probably one of my favorite parts of Easter. I mean after 40 days of nearly no sweets, that first bite of chocolate is wonderful.

To be honest, though Easter has always been an important holiday in my family, giving up sweets for lent probably adds to all of our excitement for Easter. Well, that and my mom’s fabulous Easter baskets. Yes, we still do Easter baskets in my house and I have a picture to prove it! My mom’s Easter baskets not only include plenty of great candy but movies and articles of clothing are also known to sneak in to the mix.

Another confession I have today is that I definitely enjoyed my share of good food and sweet treats today. My mom makes an egg casserole for brunch every year and chocolate eggs and a few gummies helped me get through my drive back to Wake. But, I think it’s okay that I enjoyed myself a little. Letting loose is okay, and even healthy, from time to time. I can proudly say though I have enjoyed my sweets, I have not gone completely overboard. If you saw the amount of yummy candy I have to choose from, you would be impressed too.

In the long run, as long as I work out hard and eat well this week, one day of celebration won’t hurt. Plus I made sure to bring some hard boiled eggs (now beautifully dyed) to have as healthy snacks this week!
