Jay-Z Welcomes Baby Daughter with New Song “Glory”

The media has been abuzz this week with the news that Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z are officially “Mommy and Daddy,” to baby daughter Blue Ivy Carter. They welcomed her to the world Saturday night in New York via a scheduled C-section, according to multiple sources confirmed by E! News.

There’s been an outpouring of love and congratulatory tweets from several celebrities. Friend and music mogul Russell Simmons tweeted the new parents, “congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.”

Rihanna gave baby Blue a warm welcome, tweeting: “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”

Representatives of the proud new parents released this statement:

“We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”

Theories have circulated around the baby girl’s unusual name with “Blue” a special color for Jay-Z (his albums are titled “Blueprint,” “Blueprint 2” and “The Blueprint 3”) and Ivy allegedly referring to the Roman numeral “IV” representing the number four (Beyonce’s birthday is Sept. 4, Jay-Z’s is Dec. 4, the couple was married on April 4, 2008 and the Beyonce’s latest album is entitled “4”).

Now, Jay-Z has written a song to honor his newborn daughter, “Glory feat. B.I.C.” which even features some audio of the baby’s cries.

In the track, the new dad refers to Blue as “God’s gift” and goes on to rap these lyrics:

“The most amazing feeling I feel
Words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real
Baby I paint the sky blue
My greatest creation was you”

His lyrics allude to the baby’s conception in Paris as well as him and his wife having experienced a miscarriage in the past — take a listen and check out the full lyrics.
