If you haven’t heard of the Discovery Channel series Man Vs. Wild before, the basic concept is that a man named Bear Grylls travels to remote locations where he must show the right survival skills necessary to live. For the series premiere of Man Vs. Wild this season, Grylls brings along actor Jack Gyllenhaal with him on the adventure. “For me, it’s all about discovery,” said Gyllenhaal. Grylls and Gyllenhaal travel to Iceland to climb mountains, glaciers, and even active volcanoes for two days. But if you think Jake got special treatment, think again. “Jake will have to go where Bear goes, eat whatever Bear eats, and on occasion even take the lead, if he’s going to cope with some of the worst conditions known to man,” read a statement from the network.
