We’ve all been anticipating Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon Prime Video since the series’ first season took fans by storm. With the entire series being based on Jenny Han’s Summer book collection, it’s safe to say the second season of TSITP will pull many references from its original story. With that, a new edition of the sequel and second book in the series, It’s Not Summer Without You, is hitting the market on Nov. 29, and it’s equipped with some exclusive behind-the-scenes content featuring the Prime series cast.

Han surprised some of the cast members with a special preview of the new book cover design in a TikTok video posted on Oct. 27. Stars Gavin Casalegno, Lola Tung, and Chris Briney were seen gushing over the all-new It’s Not Summer Without You cover, and let’s just say, I’m loving it too.
The cover showcases Casalegno, Tung, and Briney on a wooden dock amidst the marsh, which is obviously giving total summer vibes. As excited as I am for the second season of TSITP, it’s clear that the re-released book is going to be on everyone’s radar come Nov. 29.
As far as when we can expect Season 2’s return to our screens, there’s been no official word yet. Though filming began in July 2022, fans are still eagerly waiting to hear about a release date. However, there has been confirmation of a few new characters for the show’s second season. Elsie Fisher will be joining Season 2 as new friend Skye, as well as Kyra Sedgwick with an unconfirmed role.
The addition of a few new faces to the Season 2 cast also has viewers of the show (and readers of the original books) wondering how much the plot will differ from the Summer series. While it’s almost certain the new season will mirror the story present in It’s Not Summer Without You, I’m sure there will be some discrepancies from the two projects. Season 1 had a debutante subplot, for example, which was different from the TSITP novel. Either way, I can’t wait to see what new elements will be added to Season 2.
The addition of a bonus QR code to the cover will allow fans to get the real tea about the show’s return before the Season 2 release on Amazon Prime Video. I mean, really, who doesn’t want an update on TSITP? Plus, after the new edition comes out on Nov. 29, the QR code will be regularly updated with new material as time goes on… and I can’t wait to see what’s going to be released.
