Wait… Is RuPaul Running For President?!

America, start your engines, and may the best candidate… win! With the 2024 election just mere months away, many political figures have been throwing their hat in the ring to run for President of the United States. And just when we thought having a reality TV show host as a president was a unique experience, the internet is theorizing that another person might be joining the race — and I’m not talking Drag Race. Seriously, is RuPaul running for President in 2024?!

The fantasy of having the Supermodel Of The World as the United States’ commander-in-chief is something plucked directly from my sweetest dreams, but the internet seems to think that RuPaul is pivoting to a career in government, seriously. On Feb, 27, the host of RuPaul’s Drag Race posted a now-viral video to TikTok saying “Hi, I’m RuPaul, and I have an announcement of an announcement for the American people” before encouraging users to visit his website, www.rupaul2024.com, for more information. Wait, huh?

Fans instantly flocked to the comment section. One fan wrote, “Can you be running for president because you’ll get my vote” while another commented “MAMA RU FOR PREZ.” And while tons of comments were in support of the iconic artist entering politics, a majority of fans believe that this is a marketing ploy for a new season of Drag Race, or one of its spinoffs.

There isn’t much information on RuPaul’s website, save for a banner that says “AMERICA NEEDS A QUEEN” alongside a spot to put down your email for notifications. And while RuPaul hasn’t said anything further about running for President, I’m going to say that it seems a little unlikely — I mean, we haven’t even had an All Winners 2 yet.

However, that hasn’t stopped the internet from absolutely losing it.

Look, it wouldn’t be the first time we had a reality TV show host run for President, so nothing is impossible. And, if Mama Ru does end up running (and winning), we’ll probably have the most fabulous administration in history — especially if Michelle Visage is his VP and the hilarious Ross Matthews is is EOP. One can only dream.
