An ‘Icebreaker’ Adaptation Is Coming, So Here’s My Fan-Cast

We are in a very specific era of TV shows: specifically, sexy hockey romance books being adapted into astronomically popular TV shows. First, Heated Rivalry took over. Now, Off-Campus is all the rage. So it’s not surprising to see another book-to-screen adaptation in the lineup: Icebreaker by Hannah Grace. So far, these shows have had absolutely top-tier casting. But in case the producers need a little help, here’s my Icebreaker fan-cast — because I have thoughts.

On June 15, Netflix announced that “Icebreaker is on the way,” stating that the series will be produced by Unwell Productions, AKA Call Her Daddy’s host, Alex Cooper. Although no dates were announced for filming or release, readers are buzzing with excitement.

ICYMI, Icebreaker is the first book in the Maple Hills series and follows Anastasia (Stassie) Allen, a figure skater training for the Olympics, and Nate Hawkins, a hockey team captain training for the NHL. The two athletes are forced to share the ice rink, which is a sizzling twist on the “only one bed” trope. It’s a classic enemies-to-lovers moment that fans are ecstatic to finally see on-screen — and the fan-casts have already begun.

So, in case our Founding Father needs a little help with casting, I’ve decided to hop on the bandwagon and deliver my Icebreaker fancast. You’re welcome in advance.

Anastasia Allen: Florence Hunt

Hunt is best known as the little sister, Hyacinth, on Bridgerton. But IRL, my girl is 19, a perfect fit for a gorgeous 20-year-old Stassie. She plays stubborn, sassy, and charismatic perfectly, and I am dying to see her take on a leading role.

Nathan Hawkins: Noah LaLonde

After obsessing over him in My Life With the Walter Boys, I would love to see LaLonde pick up a hockey stick for a sporty romance. He would need some brown contacts, but I think he would excel playing a kind, hardworking character.

Aaron Carlisle: Joe Locke

Locke is Aaron in my brain, without a doubt. IMO, he has antagonistic skating partner written all over him. After his iconic role in Agatha All Along, I can’t wait to see him cause chaos in more shows — and hopefully Icebreaker. Fingers crossed!

Lola Mitchell: Sadie Sink

This Stranger Things kid has blossomed into a star with roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Romeo & Juliet. So, of course, Sink would be an incredible theater-loving bestie, Anastasia. And her gorgeous ginger hair is the final puzzle piece to a perfect Lola.

Henry Turner: Nickolas Duvernay

Henry is a perfect angel with the body of a God: Duvernay matches that description to a T.  Not only would he make a great hockey teammate in this series, but a great leading man if they choose to adapt his story, Daydream, to film. Plus, he’s a certified BookTok star, acting in The Love Hypothesis and Reminders of Him.

No matter who is cast, Icebreaker is bound to be another hockey show to fall in love with. Trust, I’ll have my popcorn out when it hits Netflix.
