During your first three years of college, it sometimes felt as though it would last forever.
But now, it has finally hit you: it won’t.
You’re almost a senior now, and things are starting to get real.
It probably started when all your senior friends graduated last spring and you found yourself thinking: “In a year, that’s going to be me.”
Then you got that email about the official date for your graduation next year… and cried when you saw it.
That email about making sure you were finishing up your graduation requirements probably also made you cry.
One year until you’re an adult with responsibilities, and a job, and rent – the horror!
Already you’re starting to get nostalgic and rocking your school apparel around everywhere.
You’ve probably invested in a “Class of 2014” banner from your school to hang in your dorm next year…
…and sometimes, at night, you might sing your school fight song to yourself before falling asleep.
Oh, why must all good things come to an end?
Words that send you into a panic: job.
Career.
Adulthood.
Future.
You’re starting to get those questions about what you want to do after you graduate…
…but you’re kind of doing this thing right now where you pretend “Life After College” doesn’t exist.
You and your friends have already started putting together a list of all the fun and wacky stuff you want to do before graduating,
and brainstorming ideas for all the theme parties you want to throw.
You’ve even thought about those guys you intend to make a move on before the year ends.
Putting together your schedule for a new semester used to really stress you out.
But now you care far more about making room in your schedule for your social activities than your science labs.
Everyone tells you senior year is going to fly by, so you’re just going to enjoy every minute of your time left in college while you still can.
“The future”? Whatever. That can wait.
