The 2020 Democratic National Convention Officially Has A Host City
On Monday, the Democratic National Committee announced that Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will host the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
“This choice is a statement of our values,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez told CNN. He added that he was “thrilled” to have Milwaukee host the 2020 Democratic National Convention. “The Democratic Party is the party of working people, and Milwaukee is a city of working people. We saw in this last election what we can accomplish when we come together, invest, and fight for working people, and that was proven right here in Wisconsin.”
According to The Hill, the choice is a lot more than the Democrats’ commitment to the working class. The publication reported that Hillary Clinton was the first Democratic candidate to lose Wisconsin in the 2016 presidential election since Walter Mondale’s campaign in 1984.

Donald Trump, who was the Republican nominee, gained the state’s 10 electoral votes, beating Clinton by 23,000 votes at the polls, according to the Associated Press. Clinton was largely criticized for her failure to visit the state, which has been considered a “blue wall” state before 2016, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
The 2020 Democratic National Convention also proves to be a historic moment; it will be the first time that the committee has held a nominating convention in a Midwest city—outside of Chicago, Illinois— in over a hundred years.
“This is a great day for the city of Milwaukee and for the state of Wisconsin,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said, CNN reported. “Milwaukee is a first-class city, and we are ready to showcase Milwaukee on one of the largest stages in the world.”
Donald Trump 2020 Budget Plan To Cost A Record-Breaking 4.75 Trillion & Cut Funding From A Ton Of Departments
Donald Trump released on Monday the 2020 budget proposal that will cut funding from a bunch of departments, including $845 billion from Medicare over 10 years and get rid of student loan forgiveness. Despite, the proposed plan is the most expensive budget in United States history.
According to The New York Times, the total costs for the budget would be a record-breaking $4.75 trillion. Per The Washington Post, the budget seeks to cut 31 percent of the Environmental Protection Agency’s budget and 24 percent of the State and USAID budget. It will also cut funds across the following agencies and departments: Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Interior, Health and Human Services, Education, Energy, Labor, Justice, NASA, and Treasury.

The Department of Defense, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs will gain funding in the new budget, according to The Washington Post. In total, the budget for the Department of Defense will come to $718 billion. The budget also gives an additional $8.6 billion to the border wall, which brings the cost to over $15 billion.
According to The New York Times, it is unlikely that the proposed budget will pass in Congress.
Nancy Pelosi Say Impeaching Trump is “Not Worth It” & Just “Divides The Country”
Many members from the Democratic Party have been pretty vocal about impeaching President Donald Trump, including Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Al Green, and Pramila Jayapal. But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi apparently doesn’t agree. In an interview with The Washington Post on Monday, Pelosi said she does not support impeachment and thinks Trump is “just not worth it.”
“I’m not for impeachment,” Pelosi said. “I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country.”
Pelosi continued to explain that she isn’t excited as her colleagues to impeach Trump because she has seen what it’s like for a country when a president goes through impeachment. “It was terrible when we were here in the 1990s and [Newt] Gingrich was speaker and impeached the president, Bill Clinton,” Pelosi told The Post. “There’s no question that that was horrible for the country. It was unnecessary and the rest.”

Pelosi told The Post that she wasn’t worried about the country’s future and that America was “great” because it has the “strongest foundation.” But she does think the country couldn’t hold up with a second term under Trump, so she plans to “make sure that doesn’t happen.”
Despite not supporting Trump’s impeachment, Pelosi still has strong thoughts about the president. “I mean, [he is] ethically unfit,” Pelosi told The Post. “Intellectually unfit. Curiosity-wise unfit. No, I don’t think he’s fit to be president of the United States.”
