THE HC TEAM WEIGHS IN: Our New Year’s Resolutions

Want to know what’s going through the HC team’s head? Check in here every other week to see what the HC Team has to say about seasons, trends, news, etc.

This week we’re talking about what we’re vowing to resolve about our lives for 2011!

So…tell us…what is your New Year’s Resolution?

To make better decisions and keep in touch with friends who are abroad.
–       Gabriela Szewcow, Contributing Writer, Elon University

Spend more time working on what I’m passionate about. Define clear career goals and make a plan to achieve them. Start working out and lose 10 pounds.
–       Salina Siu, Campus Correspondent, Simon Fraser University

My New Year’s resolution is to stop thinking “I wish I could…” and to just do it! Obstacles are there to test how much we really want something, after all.
–       Elyssa Goodman, Style Editor, Carnegie Melon Alum

To let my self to do things I enjoy more often — instead of stressing over too many little things.
–       Catherine Combs, Campus Correspondent, Tulane University

I have a lot of them, all under this umbrella term called Operation: Fierce haha. I just want to be an all around better person. It’s broken down into categories of  appearance, demeanor and style.
–       Brittany Brown, Design Associate, Maryland Institute College of Art

To work out more and to see the brighter side of things. It’s so easy to get in a funk and forget all of the good things that we have going on in our lives. ‘Tis the season to be thankful!
–       Ngozi Ekeledo, Contributing Writer, Northwestern University

My New Year’s resolution is to strive to be the best person I can be. I just want to continue to be a good person, be charitable, not gossip and live a healthy happy life.
–       Yael Schusterman, Campus Correspondent, University of Arizona

My New Year’s resolution is to stop the shopping!  I need to realize that I don’t need to buy everything in sight so I can start investing some money in the bank instead of my closet.
–       Sophie Jasinski, Contributing Writer, Mount Holyoke College

My New Year’s resolution is to travel to a new state that I have not been to, yet. My second resolution is to try to volunteer more!
–       Krista Evans, Campus Correspondent, Simmons College

This year I’m going to continue to stay in shape instead of letting myself slip like I have during finals and holidays. I’m also going to work towards getting an internship or having more work published.
–       Madeline Harrington, Contributing Writer/Campus Correspondent, Mount Holyoke College

To live my life more freely and be more spontaneous.
–       Valentina Palladino, Branch Manager, Syracuse University

Attend yoga class at least once a week!
–       Nicole Karlis, Contributing Writer, University of Iowa

The only resolution I have is to stay positive in every aspect of my life. I used to be optimistic and upbeat about everything, but the stresses of college life wore on me. This year though, I’d like a rebirth of my sanguine nature.
–       Rebekah Meiser, Contributing Writer, University of Ohio

I resolve to be nicer to my body in 2011 — to spend more time doing yoga, drinking green tea, sleeping in, and packing in the veggies!
–       Alexandra Patterson, Administrative/HR Intern, Kenyon College

My New Year’s resolution is to only drink water — I am fairly certain that I’m addicted to Diet Coke — I drink TONS of it… so in 2011 I’d like to scale that back a bit. We will see if it happens, though…
–       Allie Duncan, Contributing Writer, University of Missouri

I want to travel! Hopefully by my graduation in May, I’ll have plans to travel to at least 3 different countries. And a job lined up for when I get back…that would be nice!
–       Nikki Fig, Editorial Intern, Emerson College

My New Year’s resolution is to not be living on the street after graduation. I can make due with sleeping in a closet or bathtub.
–       Scott Rosenfeld, Blogger, Carnegie Melon University

I’ve never really had a New Year’s resolution. I’m graduating this year so my goal is to take things one-step at a time, remain driven, and stay positive!
–       Leigh Maneri, Contributing Writer, Quinnipiac University
