HOW? Well it’s as easy as rocking out at this year’s GIRLS WHO ROCK benefit concert.
An annual concert held during Internet Week New York, GIRLS WHO ROCK focuses on advocating and fundraising for girls’ education worldwide through amazing entertainment. The concert benefits its partner, She’s the First, a non-profit organization sponsoring education for underprivileged girls and encouraging local students to volunteer as leaders for the cause.
This year specifically, the goal of the concert is to raise at least $20,000 for the girls of the Arlington Academy of Hope in Uganda, a country in which less than 20% of girls graduate from high school. Last year’s production raised $6,000 and included performances from major recording artists such as Kat Deluna, Shontelle and Lenka.
This year, GIRLS WHO ROCK will take place on Friday, June 10th at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City. The concert’s lineup includes Nikki Jean (set to release album, Pennies in a Jar, in July), Kimberly Nichole (featured in Vogue and BET’s 106 & Park), DJ Kiss, music legend Kathy Sledge (member of Grammy Award-winning girl group Sister Pledge) and more!
