Fyre Festival, the Luxury Music Festival Promoted by Kendall Jenner, Turned Out to Be a Total Disaster

Fyre Festival is a disaster, and the people who paid thousands of dollars to attend are, understandably, pissed.

The luxury music, art and food festival was supposed to take place in the Bahamas this weekend and next weekend. It was partially organized by Ja Rule and has been hyped up by celebrities like Kendall Jenner, and guests could pay anywhere from $500 to $250,000 for passes of different levels. But when the festival was actually supposed to start, total chaos ensued, as BuzzFeed News reports. In the first sign of disaster, headliner Blink-182 pulled out of the festival on Thursday afternoon.

Some people were flown to the festival location on Thursday, but by Friday morning, Fyre Festival had announced that no other groups would be flown in. “Due to circumstances beyond our control, to alleviate logistical challenges, all inbound charter flights to the Exumas have been cancelled,” the update read. “Your ticket and any funds uploaded to your RFID band will be refunded.”

For those who were already on the island, the event didn’t exactly live up to its hype.

CNN reports festival-goers went in expecting a weekend of great music, models in bikinis, and even private jets and yachts as transportation. What they got instead were half-built tents, minimal food and mass confusion.

William Finley from North Carolina and his three friends spent $8,000 to attend the festival, but arrived only to be disappointed and sent back.

“We just realized it was all a complete disaster and nothing was ready,” Finley told CNN. “There was no organization, there was no leadership. …It was horrible, (like) summer camp. Everything about it was a sham.”

The festival’s website is now devoid of any information other than an apology for its failure.

Now, people are taking to Twitter to drag Ja Rule on his failed event.

The man himself is nowhere to be found, but some Twitter users have an idea of what Ja Rule is up to while he’s in hiding.

No need to feel FOMO for this particular event.
