I love pizza. Fresh pizza, thin crust pizza, thick crust pizza, frozen pizza, pizza bagel bites, pizza bagels — I’m getting hungry just thinking about all of it. I had the pleasure of getting to try FRESCHETTA® Simply…Inspired™ Pizza recently and wanted to share my thoughts on the pizza with a group of people who know pizza extremely well: collegiettes™!
Unlike most frozen pizzas, the Freschetta Simply Inspired pizzas have super unique topping combinations. I tried the Rustic Pepperoni Pomodoro which has pepperoni, shiitake mushrooms and roasted red peppers along with red sauce, mozzarella and gouda cheese. It was the perfect kind of pizza! They had a lot of other flavor varieties to choose from including Southern BBQ, Tuscan Farmhouse, Farmers Market Veggie, Chicken Bianco, Hawaiian, Classic Bruschetta, and Harvest Supreme. Quite a change from standard freezer staples of pepperoni and sausage.
I was super pleased with how the pizza tasted. The mushrooms and peppers tasted more fresh (clearly that flavor was locked in with the Fresch-Taste seal!) than I’d expect from frozen food and the pepperoni, which is a favorite food of mine, was tasty! Plus, unlike a lot of frozen pizzas that I’ve tried, it wasn’t too doughy. I really prefer thin and crispy pizza like this Freschetta brand to super doughy ones which frankly have a rep for having a bad dough to topping ratio (high on dough, low on toppings — argh!).
