Any Friends fan knows that Chandler and Monica are soulmates. It’s hard to imagine the finale without Chandler and Monica together as parents moving into the suburbs—but originally that was not the plan.
Co-creator Marta Kauffman revealed during a panel at the ATX Television Festival that Monica and Chandler weren’t always going to end up together. The original plan was to have the hookup in London be just a one night stand. It was the audience’s response to seeing Chandler and Monica together romantically that pushed the writers to give the fans what they wanted.
We’re so glad the writers realized that these two “lobsters” were meant to be. Friends wouldn’t have been the same without high-strung Monica and funny guy Chandler falling in love. Team Monica & Chandler forever!
