Freeform Officially Picks Up ‘Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists’—Watch The First Teaser

Trying to figure out if a Pretty Little Liars spinoff was really ever going to happen has felt like trying to crack one of A’s riddles yourself. News of Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists first surfaced in 2017, revealing that this spinoff would tell a new story, but star two original (sometimes psycho) Liars, Alison and Mona. This week, Freeform announced that the new series has officially been picked up by the network.

According to E! News, Freeform has signed on to give The Perfectionists 10 episodes, so they will be live on screen for at least a season (so far).

We already know that alongside PLL’s Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, Disney Descendants star Sofia Carson will lead the new series. Carson has also hinted that some more of our favorite OG Liars, including Troian Bellisario and Lucy Hale, may in some way be included in the spinoff, whether it be on or off screen. (Make this happen on-screen, please Marlene!)

On Monday, the official Pretty Little Liars Twitter account shared the first teaser, confirming that we can expect The Perfectionists in 2019. For those of you who weren’t obsessed with everything Sara Shepard has written, Freeform has included a brief synopsis of the plot line: “In the aftermath of the town’s first murder, each Perfectionist hides behind a secret, a lie and an alibi.”

The Perfectionists seems like it will be enough of a change from PLL to bring in new fans and keep you intrigued, but at the same time, providing just enough nostalgia through the use of former characters, to draw in PLL stans. And if this teaser is any indication, we can look forward to lots more drama with a ton of outfits to die for.

The stars of the upcoming series are just as eager as us for the premiere, with even Pieterse tweeting at Parrish.
