Hey Collegiette™!

Along with our arrival in Samana, Dominican Republic, Fat Tuesday has also arrived. Though many of you may associate today with Mardi Gras, in the past I think that this day has earned being called fat in my book.

Every year since I can remember, my family has jointly given up sweets (yep all of them) for Lent. Hence, fat Tuesday is usually equated with a constant sugar high as we attempt to make up for 40 days.

Even though Jillian Michaels allows for a 200 calories sweet treat every night in the SELF Jump Start Diet (if that doesn’t make you want to sign up, I don’t know what will), I will still be nixing sweets for 40 days…though I definitely am not saying you should do the same! Eating something like chocolate regularly will be most effective in holding off gorges, so keep getting your sugar fix. Dark Chocolate even helps burn fat! This is what I have to resist every night! Hopefully I don’t cave to anything of this nature tonight.

Though I will be following my Lenten sacrifice this year, I will not be devouring every item with sugar in sight, mostly thanks to the SELF Jump Start diet. As I haven’t had a dessert of my own on the boat yet(I have tried a bite or two of a friends), I think today warrants a small treat…I mean after this it is none till Easter! I am going to try my very best to find something that Jillian Michaels would approve, so I will report back tomorrow and let you know how I did!
