Earlier this year, Florida, which never fails to disappoint in strange stories, delivered the rest of the world a REAL doozy. On Aug. 14, a teenager was allegedly found eating the face of a man who he was accused of murdering (*super shudder*). Now, he is being charged with their murder and a slew of other charges. On Monday, Austin Harrouff, a 19-year-old former college student, was charged with two counts of first degree murder, one count of attempted murder, resisting arrest and burglary, according to NBC News.
Harrouff is accused of the heinous murder of a Floridian couple, Michelle Mischon and John Stevens. The couple were found on the floor of their garage, stabbed to death with “weapons of opportunity”—aka stuff they had in their garage—according to the police. Harrouff, who attended Florida State University, is also accused of having stabbed a neighbor who attempted to intervene, and who survived the attack. At the time of the arrest, the police believed he had consumed a synthetic drug like flakka or bath salts, but he later told police he had not consumed any drugs. The FBI blood test, however, has not been released. Authorities stated he was making animal sounds, and that not even a stun gun or a police dog was enough to subdue him. According to the police, there is still no apparent motive to the crime. Harrouff was also found not wearing any pants.
Harrouff was hospitalized after the arrest, with authorities believing he had consumed a dangerous chemical. He was in a coma for 11 days, and it was believed he might not survive. The police also reported he could not speak to them for three weeks after his arrest.
It is unclear at this time if Harrouf has a lawyer. Harrouff is being held without bond in the Martin County jail.
