Elizabeth’s Infinite Playlist

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

What could be more inspiring than a fresh new playlist geared up to go?  Nothing, that’s what.  Here are some of my favorites that keep me going during my workouts!

Virtual Circle – The McLovins
This song has a hypnotic opening riff and alternates between high intensity and laid back, sublime sections – perfect for interval training!  It’s almost entirely instrumental, which leaves its meaning open to interpretation.  I visualize myself sliding down rapids and waterfalls when I hear it… Click ahead to 0:30 to hear the beginning!

Bedheadded Crystal Bugger – The McLovins
This one’s a rocker.  There’s heavy baselines and straightforward guitar riffs.  I love this song because it always has a way of getting me to pump up the intensity of my workout just a little more…

Hot Summer Night – Grace Potter & the Nocturnals
This tune shows off some serious pipes, and I don’t mean an organ.  Grace Potter is an incredible singer who has this sexy, energetic quality to her voice.  If you like having hot summer nights even in the middle of the winter (wink!), check this tune out.

Paris (Ooh la la) – Grace Potter & the Nocturnals
This song oozes straight-up rock and roll sexiness.  The chorus is practically infectious.  Give it a listen – you’ll be singing ooh la la in no time.

On Time – The Disco Biscuits
I’ve got a thing for the bass.  I know, I know.  Cliché.  But this tune has a really slinky, powerful bass line that just makes me want to groove.  And I’d much rather be doing dance moves on the stairclimber than be bored!

Oh! – SNSD
Everyone needs a little mindless bubblegum pop!  My suggestion?  Oh! by SNSD, a popular girls group in Korea.  Part of the chorus is in English, so you don’t have to feel like there’s a total language barrier.  And who knows?  Perhaps you’ll pick up some Korean vocab while at the gym too.

Bonita – the Pimps of Joytime
Spice up your run with this tune: you’ll be feeling the heavy Latin groove in no time.

Good Company – Queen
I’m not even going to lie: I like to pretend I’m a Broadway performer and sing along to this song.  (No shame!)  The adrenaline from just pretending you’re performing that is awesome for revving up your workout.

Wake Me Up Before You Go! – Wham!
Up for a blast from the past?  This tune is perfect for ending your workout with a smile on your face.

So get listening, ladies!
Lots of love,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth Bayne is a first-year at the marvelous Smith College. She adores running dusty trails, pumping iron, and everything yoga-related. Unfortunately she cannot seem to muster the willpower to stay away from decadent desserts or anything covered in that delicious fake yogurt they dip raisins into. In all seriousness, working out is a powerful stress-reliever for her and has invariably become a part of daily life. Most recently, yoga and weight lifting have become the most exciting parts of her workout routine, but she’s always looking for new ways to be motivated (Thursday night Zumba class, anyone?). Her workout goals for this season are to tone up and to adopt sensible eating habits to avoid the seemingly ubiquitous Freshman Fifteen. She also wants to be able to do a handstand for two reasons: to develop intense concentration skills and to have a cool party trick.
