Ed Sheeran Would Sing Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s First Dance Song if Asked, So What Are They Waiting for?

On Nov. 27, Suits actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement after dating for about a year-and-a-half. Ever since the announcement, eager royal watchers have been making guesses about every aspect of the couple’s May 2018 nuptials.

Speculations about the venue (St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle), the cake (banana flavor), potential wedding guests (Priyanka Chopra and Serena Williams), and, of course, what dress Meghan will wear during the ceremony have already been made. So, what else is there to plan?

Well, on Friday, some guesses were made about the music that might accompany the happy couple’s first dance. Ed Sheeran, after receiving the MBE (a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire), was asked if he would like to sing at the royal wedding. Though he hasn’t ~officially~ been asked, Sheeran’s response was classic Ed: a resounding “Yeah, why not?”

While I don’t know about their personal music preferences, Meghan and Harry should definitely take Ed up on his offer. I mean, he’s the king of swoon-worthy, romantic songs. Personally, I can think of a number of his songs that would make great first dance songs (“Thinking Out Loud,” “Photograph” and “Perfect” all come to mind).

Whether they go with Ed or another option, one thing is for sure. Meghan and Prince Harry’s day will be special and romantic—not because of their wedding singer, but because of the incredible love they share.
