Dr. Oz Lost His Run For Pennsylvania Senator & Twitter Has Something To Say

The midterm elections were held on Nov. 9, and the results have been spilling in. Voters educated themselves on where their candidates stood on leading issues including reproductive rights, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ rights. If you live in Pennsylvania, or have been keeping up with the political trail, you may have noticed a familiar name running for the U.S. Senate. If you’re unsure what I’m talking about, Dr. Oz from The Dr. Oz Show was the Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, and he lost.

I mean, seriously: Why do American television stars keep running for political office in the U.S.? Maybe it’s the influence of the rise of social media, but Republican Mehmet Oz lost his Senate race against Democrat John Fetterman on the morning of Nov. 9. When such a public figure runs for political office (especially one that many Gen Z kids grew up seeing on their television screens), it’s almost certain that it will grab the attention of many. Not to mention, Dr. Oz is actually known for being a New Jersey resident, so the whole situation is a little muddied.

Though the midterm election is nothing to really laugh about, it’s inevitable that some meme-able content would arise following Dr. Oz’s lost race for Pennsylvania senator. Twitter had a few things to say about Dr. Oz’s loss in his election run in Pennsylvania.
