Dove Cameron Is Set To Play Cher In An Off-Broadway ‘Clueless’ Musical & We’re Totally Buggin’

If you asked us a month ago if ‘90s cult classic Clueless could get any better, we would have answered with a firm, “As if!”

But apparently it can, with the help of a Clueless musical.

This year, Cher Horowitz, along with her iconic yellow and black plaid outfit and her best friend Dionne, will be making her theater debut in an off-broadway musical. Back in June, The New Group (a theater company based in New York) announced that the musical, written and directed by the film’s writer Amy Heckerling, would premiere in November. But, they left us with one question: Who’s playing Cher??

Unfortunately, Alicia Silverstone won’t be reprising her role. But the person who will be taking on the iconic role of everyone’s favorite ‘90s icon is going to be just as good. On Tuesday it was announced that Dove Cameron, best known for playing Mal in Disney’s Descendents, will be playing Cher.

A few days ago, the 22-year old actress shared with fans that she’s packing her bags and moving from L.A. to New York, but kept fans guessing why she was making the move until today.

If you’re worried about Cameron being able to fill Cher’s designer shoes, don’t be. This isn’t Cameron’s first musical. Aside from Descendants, she was also in NBC’s Hairspray Live! in 2016, she’s going to be starring alongside Jennifer Aniston in the upcoming comedy musical Dumplin, and has previously won an Emmy for her role in Disney’s Liv and Maddie.

The musical only runs from November 20 through January 12, and according to The New Group, it will feature reimagined ‘90s hits to fit the storyline. We’re just hoping that they find a way to fit “Rollin’ With My Homies” into the show.
