Cue the Nostalgia, Disney+ Has All the Throwback Shows & Stars

Disney+ feels like a fairly new streaming service, but the reviews are already outstanding. From Disney Channel original movies, to Pixar films, and even older Disney Channel TV series, there’s a little piece of childhood in it for everyone. Plus, it’s pretty cheap at $7 a month or $70 per year.

It feels like there’s nothing better than finding the perfect throwback show with all of your favorite stars — hey Miley, I’m talking to you! Want to catch up with these stars? Cozy up on the couch and let’s take a walk down memory lane with a couple of Disney veterans and a few guest stars that you may not remember.

Aly Michalka, Phil of the Future

Aly Michalka is no stranger to Disney Channel. She previously graced our screens in features like Cow Belles. I couldn’t ever forget Aly’s role as the spunky teen, Keeley Teslow, on Phil of the Future, which was one of her first major acting jobs!

Corbin Bleu, Jump In!

You may not immediately remember that Corbin Bleu played Izzy Stevens in the classic D.C.O.M Jump In!, a movie about a boxer’s son finding his passion in the world of double dutch competitions. He also played *cough cough* Chad Danforth in the High School Musical series, and guest-starred on Hannah Montana as the loveable Johnny Collins. Bleu even re-recorded the song, “If We Were a Movie,” for the Hannah Montana 3 soundtrack. All I can say is: iconic.

Shia LaBeouf, Even Stevens

Shia LaBeouf is a pretty familiar face in Hollywood now because of films like Transformers and Honey Boy. But before he rose to A-list stardom, he starred as the Hawaiian-shirt-wearing troublemaker, Louis Stevens in the Even Stevens television series. LaBeouf was one of Disney’s best stars. Hands down.

Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas, Jonas

The Jonas Brothers just made a huge musical comeback in 2019 (and I seriously couldn’t be happier), but their Disney days were the real glory days. Between tours, albums and starring in Camp Rock, these boys were booked and busy. They also guest-starred on Hannah Montana and had two seasons of their own show, Jonas

Hilary Duff, Lizzie McGuire

Now that Disney+ is a popular topic of conversation, this show is constantly being mentioned as one to rewatch. Duff currently stars in TV Land’s Younger, but Lizzie McGuire was just one of the roles that catapulted her career. She has also had roles in films like Another Cinderella Story and Cheaper By The Dozen, alongside hitting the music scene with albums Metamorphosis and Hilary Duff. Plus, she is set to reprise her role–along with some other original cast members–in a new reboot for Disney+ coming in 2020.

Bailee Madison, Wizards of Waverly Place

You may have seen Bailee Madison as Grace on Hallmark’s Good Witch or even farther back as May Belle Aarons in Bridge to Terabithia. But on Wizards of Waverly Place, Madison played Maxine, a little girl version of Max, who gets transformed when Alex and Justin’s spells go wrong. Bailee can easily be categorized as one of our favortie Disney’s regulars.

Zendaya and Bella Thorne, Shake It Up

While Zendaya is now known for her sensational role as Rue on Euphoria and Bella Thorne can be recounted as the red-head from The Duff and Famous in Love, they used to be known as Rocky and CeCe on the dance-themed show Shake It Up. You’ll want to head over to Disney+ and get all caught up on all of their pre-teen antics ASAP.

Zac Efron, High School Musical

Who can forget Zac Efron’s legendary role as everyone’s favorite heartthrob Troy Bolton in the High School Musical series? Definitely not me. Little did you know, Efron also had a gig on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody in the episode “Odd Couples.” He played Trevor, a Merit Scholar who attends a convention at the Tipton and eventually develops a crush on Ashley Tisdale’s character, Maddie. Ugh, we can only imagine.

Selena Gomez, Wizards of Waverly Place

Gomez made it big with her starring role as Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place. However, before her gig on Wizards, she made a few guest appearances on Hannah Montana as Hannah’s pop star/actress archnemesis and Miley’s friend, Mikayla Skeech. These are some of my favorite roles that Gomez played on Disney. Can you say starstruck?

It’s always good to reminisce on the significant pieces of your past, and gladly, we can say that Disney channel was a staple in our childhood.
