Daisy Ridley Is Not a Fan of #NoFilter

After Star Wars came out a few months ago, the internet blew up over Daisy Ridley, the super-talented actress who played the lead in the blockbuster movie. Sure, she’s got good looks, extreme talent and a strong personality, but what we love most about her is that she speaks her mind—and has some important things to say.

Ridley took to Instagram to comment on the popular social media trends of #NoMakeup and #NoFilter. Basically, she explains that not everything is as it seems, and everything is subjective.

She wrote, “Social media is great but also a bit scary cause what people post is the most filtered, most carefully chosen and cleverly edited moments of their lives. And self esteem is a huge issue for people around the world. My skin isn’t great so I don’t post no make up selfies, much as I’d like to; I have a trainer urging me on in workouts and don’t include all the times I say ‘I can’t do it’ and I don’t smile all the time but I like to share the pictures where I am. But I actually do love myself, I try to think good thoughts always and am surrounded by the most wonderful people, so I’m keeping it balanced (like the Force, obvs). Just thought I’d say :).”  *Mic drop*

It’s really refreshing to see a celebrity coming out and blatantly saying that not everything you see is really unfiltered or makeup-free, even if that’s what captions and hashtags would have you believe. Yep—this is another reason to be completely obsessed with Daisy Ridley.
