Cole Sprouse Just Gave #Bughead Fans What We’ve All Been Waiting For—A PDA-Filled Pic With Lili Reinhart

Remember when we made things “Facebook official” exactly 30 seconds into a new relationship? Not anymore. Now the move is to debut your relationship on social media as late as you possibly can. Get people talking a little bit.

It’s easy to forget that Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinheart (aka Riverdale’s Jughead and Betty, aka Bughead) weren’t officially official before. (Harper’s Bazaar estimates that people have been speculating about them since February 2017.) But if they weren’t then, maybe now we have some idea. Cole posted this picture (featuring HIS OWN TONGUE) last night. As Teen Vogue analyzed, he’s posted pictures of Lili on his Insta before, but never one of the two of them in the same frame.

The picture’s caption reads, “It’s pretty, pretty late,” which refers to either the 4 a.m. posting time or the confirmation of the relationship relative to when speculation began. That mysterious twin-having man.

We may be seeing more of this type of content from Cole soon. He announced in another Instagram post in August that he will start posting more personal photographs on Instagram soon.

(Right now I’m flashing back to when Cole only joined Tumblr as a “social experiment,” so we’ll see how well he’ll stick to this new social media promise.)

I’ve decided to start uploading some of my more personal photographs on this Instagram. If you’ve ever spent a bit of time with me, you’ll know I take my privacy quite seriously, much of that paranoia influenced by my youth. I understand social media will always carry a bit of a curated superficiality, but I have so many sentimental photos that, like a collector, I’ve kept in the original packaging for far too long. I’m hoping some of the photos I’ll be posting from here on out will feel a bit more…honest, as they do to me. Naturally, I’ll still be weaving my commercial and editorial work within this account, but why don’t we break it up a little? Keep up~

Lili has started becoming less demure about their relationship on her own social media. Yesterday she tweeted about a nondescript “your bae” who for all intents and purposes I am interpreting as Cole. (Unless this relationship is also a social experiment and we’ve been duped this entire time. Sorry, I’m still bitter.)

A couple has their right to privacy, but I’m also kind of relieved that the two of them are no longer leaving it up to the fans to interpret their relationship. Good luck, Bughead!
