Thomas Markle is making headlines again — this time because of a nine-hour interview with the Mail on Sunday about his estrangement from his daughter, Meghan Markle.
In the interview, Thomas makes a number of claims that appear to serve no other purpose than to draw the pity of strangers: Meghan cut him off, he doesn’t know how to reach her, he can’t even send her a birthday card, and she’d probably be better off if he died. Perhaps these complaints would be more sincere if in the same interview, he hadn’t said things like, “What riles me is Meghan’s sense of superiority. She’d be nothing without me. I made her the Duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her.”
Of course, Thomas’ sincerity would be even more believable if he’d simply honor his daughter’s wish that he and other members of her family not talk to the press. But since he was previously accused of staging paparazzi photos and accepting payments in exchange for interviews, it doesn’t appear that’s going to happen.
Lucky for Meghan, Kate Middleton has reportedly been helping her through the drama. According to Vanity Fair, the sister-in-law is acting as “a pillar of support” for the newly minted Duchess of Sussex, who is “at her wit’s end” over the situation with her father.
“Kate’s well aware of what Meghan is going through,” a source told VF. “Her family has been dragged through the tabloids and she knows it’s not nice. She’s made a big effort to be kind to Meghan and look out for her.”
Of all people, Chrissy Teigen is doing the same. She tweeted a screenshot of Thomas’ latest interview with the caption, “This guy… this guy sucks. What is wrong with him? Let your daughter be happy, please. This is embarrassing.”

Samantha Markle, Meghan’s sister who is equally as messy as their father, responded by insulting Chrissy’s looks.
“So this pudgy airhead @Christinetiegen who knows nobody in the family is opening her pie hole? ‘This guy’ is our father and desrves a lot of respect,” Samantha tweeted from her private account, notably tagging an account that’s not Chrissy’s. “You are the one who sucks.”
Thomas hasn’t weighed in yet, but I’m sure it won’t be long now.
