The long-awaited announcement was revealed last night on The Stephen Colbert Show (fun fact: Stephen Colbert also had the honor of announcing last year’s winner, Paul Rudd). This year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who was People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2016, joined his Red One co-star to help reveal the decision.
Every year, you never know what to expect when People’s controversial title is announced — and TBH, there will always be mixed reactions. Some reactions were full of complete chaos when Blake Shelton was the winner in 2017 or when John Legend won in 2019. On the other end of the spectrum, some people are generally thrilled by People’s decision, like Michael B. Jordan was the winner in 2020 or Idris Elba in 2018.
But this year, I think it’s safe to say that most people agree that Chris Evans was *finally* the right choice! One person even tweeted that they’’ve been expecting this since 2014.
