Charli D’Amelio & Landon Barker Broke Up, But He Says They’re Still Friends

The news is true, Besties. After over a year of dating, Charli D’Amelio and Landon Barker have called it quits. The two started dating in June 2022 and have been publicly seen together since.

They became social media official in July 2022. The pair had gotten pretty serious quickly as Barker tattooed D’Amelio’s eye on his arm, and the two adopted a dog named Moody. They were even featured on the cover of Mini V magazine. Between their cute videos and red carpet appearances, Chardon (their couple name dubbed by TikTok users) had unofficially become a Gen Z power couple. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. On Feb. 7, Barker took to his Instagram Stories to announce their split with a quintessential “Instagram break up” template: A black screen with white letters.

Landon wrote, “Hey everyone, I would like to let you guys know that Charli and I are no longer together. We broke up to focus on ourselves. We are still friends and have so much love for each other. I am incredibly grateful for the time we shared and hope you can respect our decisions. Thank you, love you all so much.”

The timing of this breakup is ironic due to the title of Barker’s most recent single, “Friends With Your Ex,” a song that’s music video D’Amelio featured in t. D’Amelio played the girlfriend of the singer’s bandmate in the video, who Landon’s character accidentally falls in love with. Both the song and video were released in September 2023.

D’Amelio has not yet commented on the breakup, as she’s remained booked and busy. The Dancing with the Stars champ was recently featured in a Dunkin’ commercial with Ben Affleck addressing the “Sad Affleck” memes that have taken over the internet. Since Charli hasn’t shared a lot of her relationship, she might not publicly speak on her split from Landon. But if she does, we’ll let you know.

Of course, fans of the former couple are taking this breakup news pretty hard, especially since Charli and Landon seemed like they were going to be together forever.

It’s refreshing to see such a public-facing couple remain amicable and mature during their split. It’s safe to say we were all rooting for these two, but what’s best for them is what matters most.
